Description
Two toddlers atop a farm horse, blanketed and saddled, too young to even reach the stirrups. The subjects and their surroundings are a dusty sepia because they are long gone from this time. The dirt and the fuzzy memory is all that remains. The sky above is illuminated in quilt blocked blue. The color representing the life of the sky, the continuation of its presence. Connecting the American history of quilting to the memories passed and to the current day. The sky illuminates as stars and diamonds as we look forward to the future. This painting, completed in 2026, is acrylic on recycled stretched canvas. I hope this piece reminds the viewer to connect to the histories of our ancestors and the people on this land before us, to reflect on our current lives and impact to the Earth, and look forward with hope for the future.
